Spring Guns
The spring models are powered by a spring. With these models you need to manually cock the firing spring before each shot. Generally, spring powered airsoft guns are not as powerful as the other models, such as gas and electric and they are cheaper. They make a great kind of training gun for beginners because they are uncomplicated to operate, durable and easily obtainable.
Gas Airsoft Models
The gas models use a cartridge that is powered by gas, which is what powers the shot. They are heavier than the spring and electric models. But, they do offer an advantage over the spring loaded ones because they are able to offer a semi automatic feel and you can shoot a few times before you need to replace the small CO2 cartridge.
Electric Airsoft Guns
These models have a motor that shoots the BB bullets. They require batteries, usually 4 of the AAA type, or some come with rechargeable batteries. They can fire a lot of shots per minute, up to 1000 rounds, which makes a favorite among enthusiasts.
They are the most durable of all models. They allow for quick shots, fast BB reloads. They are the most realistic models, staying true to actual military grade weapons. One of the most popular models of electric airsoft gun is the AK-47, which is both auto and semi-auto firing.
